Services
Tax
The effects of taxes on our clients are one of our principal concerns.
The assistance we are able to provide in planning changes in business and
personal finances eliminates many problems which arise after a transaction takes
place. Accordingly, we suggest that our clients be fully aware of the tax
ramifications of any major action and encourage them to contact us before making
significant changes.
Income taxes may be the greatest concern our clients have, but we also do a
great deal of work with payroll, sales taxes, estate taxes and tax-exempt
situations. Our library includes three major tax reference services and we
strive to have each staff member stay on top of all the latest tax
developments. We are fully equipped to prepare any federal and state tax
return. Our services include representation of our clients before the
Internal Revenue Service.
Accounting
The accounting services we present to our clients are as varied as the
clients. Compilation and review of financial statements both interim and
year-end, a full range of bookkeeping services, assistance in training client's
personnel and aid in the preparation of budgets and projections are among the
services we can render. In addition, we are ready to assist our clients in
any special projects they may be considering.
Audit
Our audit services cover a cross-section of our clients. Although our
major emphasis is not in the audit area, we strive to maintain a quality
level as high or higher as in our other services. Each staff member is
exposed to the audit area and is able to use the in-depth experience acquired in
better serving all other clients.
Management Consulting
The Maine business executive is learning to see his accountant as a full
financial advisor other than only a "tax man." As a result, we
seek to provide our clients with a full range of consulting
services. Changes in accounting procedures, computer hardware or
software are constant concerns and our assessment of a client's situation and
advice on implementation can be key to success or failure.
Any attempt to classify a profession such as ours becomes somewhat arbitrary
because so much of public accounting consists of little pieces from so many
different areas. One cannot distinguish where accounting work ends and
management advisory services begin. Accordingly, each professional has to
be capable of meeting a myriad of client needs and questions.
